FOR EMERGING ADULTS AGES 18–24
Discover who you are before deciding what you will become.
Flight Path is a growing developmental and cultural ecosystem designed to help emerging adults build their lives from awareness, agency, experience, and conscious choice.
It begins with a book and expands through reflection, mentorship, creativity, community, work, service, cultural exposure, real-world experience, and future immersive and residential opportunities.
The BookNot a prescribed path.
A stronger foundation for choosing your own.
Flight Path
An alternative architecture for becoming.
Young adults inherit blueprints for adulthood long before they realize they are blueprints.
College. Career. Money. Relationships. Success. Identity. Responsibility. Belonging.
Flight Path is built around a simple idea:
Expose young people to an alternative architecture early enough that they can build from it.
That means giving them meaningful exposure to healthy adult models, creativity, responsibility, self-trust, discernment, financial awareness, hospitality, leadership, work, culture, beauty, collaboration, community, boundaries, consequences, repair, independence, receiving, and reciprocity.
Not so we can tell them what life to choose.
So they become more capable of remaining the authors of their own choices.
More than a program. A living ecosystem.
Flight Path is growing across several connected expressions, each serving a different part of the larger mission.
FLIGHT PATH JOURNEY
The public entry point.
The book, developmental framework, guided reflection, circles, immersions, mentorship, real-world experience, quarterly gatherings, and pathways designed primarily for emerging adults ages 18–24.
FLIGHT PATH INSTITUTE
The future physical expression of the mission.
A year-round New York philanthropic, cultural, and developmental institution where young adults can learn by participating in a functioning creative world.
FLIGHT PATH THEATRE
The cultural and performance arm.
Theatre, music, readings, conversations, creative development, visiting artists, family programming, special events, and real-world production experience.
And we haven’t forgotten about the little ones.
Laura’s first venture into children’s literature, LaLa’s Circle of Love, opened another door — one that has now grown into Creations, the children’s and family world of Flight Path.
Through characters, stories, puppetry, music, play, and imagination, Creations introduces younger children to many of the same ideas that live beneath Flight Path — belonging, creativity, confidence, communication, discernment, generosity, receiving, responsibility, and possibility.
Fun comes first. Meaning lives underneath.
They should be invited inside it.
Explore CreationsWhat does greater agency sound like?
I can choose.
I can build.
I can create.
I can recover.
I can lead.
I can receive.
I can trust my judgment.
I can change direction.
I can belong in rooms I may never have been shown before.
Flight Path does not exist to create one kind of young adult.
It exists to increase what becomes possible when a young person understands that their life is something they can participate in creating.
Flight Path
Three stages. One becoming.
Flight Path uses the transformation of the monarch butterfly as a developmental framework — not because the goal is to become someone else, but because meaningful transformation has stages.
CATERPILLAR — AWARENESS
What has shaped me?
Recognize inherited beliefs, expectations, strengths, patterns, influences, pressures, and paths that may have been absorbed before they were consciously chosen.
CHRYSALIS —
THE WORK
What needs to be examined, strengthened, released, or rebuilt?
Develop self-trust, values, boundaries, emotional resilience, discernment, reflection, and the ability to remain present when the next answer is not yet obvious.
BUTTERFLY — EMERGENCE
How do I move forward as myself?
Translate greater self-awareness into choices, relationships, work, contribution, direction, and a living Flight Plan.
Not just reflection. Real life.
Flight Path is designed to bridge inner development with actual participation in the world.
Depending on the experience, the Flight Path Journey may include:
- guided reflection and self-inquiry
- small-group circles and community
- mentorship
- immersive fellowship experiences
- work and service opportunities
- hospitality and business exposure
- visiting professionals and guest speakers
- practical life development
- financial awareness
- communication and leadership
- wellness and movement
- cultural experiences
- quarterly gatherings
- personal Flight Plan development
Awareness matters.
So does learning how to show up, contribute, choose, recover, collaborate, communicate, work, and build.
FOR PARENTS
Give them more than a next step.
Give them a foundation.
Most young adults are not lacking potential.
Many are being asked to make consequential decisions before they have had enough space, exposure, experience, or support to understand themselves.
Flight Path is not anti-college.
It is not anti-career.
It is not anti-ambition.
It is pro-awareness.
Pro-agency.
Pro-responsibility.
Pro-conscious independence.
The goal is not to remove young adults from life.
It is to help them participate in their lives more consciously.

Laura Doughty is an author, entrepreneur, real estate broker, and founder of Flight Path.
After more than three decades of entrepreneurship, reinvention, creative work, business building, and the personal exploration that ultimately became her memoir Raised by Fire, Laura began asking a different question:
What if young people were exposed earlier to some of the tools, experiences, models, and possibilities adults often discover only after years of undoing?
Flight Path grew from that question.
Her work centers on awareness, authorship, agency, creativity, responsibility, possibility, and the belief that people should be given more opportunity to consciously participate in the lives they are building.
